HyPT Toronto 2026 Meeting

The 2026 HyPT Annual Meeting was held on May 19-20 at the University of Toronto, which convened leaders from academia, industry, and policy to evaluate progress and define priorities across hydrogen production technologies. Discussions highlighted key challenges including energy intermittency, system degradation, and economic bankability of hydrogen projects, alongside opportunities in advanced diagnostics, reversible systems, and cross-sector integration. Participants emphasized the growing importance of system-level design and infrastructure, particularly in linking production, storage, and end use. The meeting reinforced a strong commitment to global interdisciplinary collaboration and coordinated research to accelerate scalable, real-world hydrogen solutions.

The 2026 Annual Meeting included a session of success stories and a poster session. Five projects were highlighted in the success stories session, selected by each thrust. Three posters were awarded the 2026 HyPT Poster Award, judged by Professors Sylvia Sleep and Chester Upham. The poster awardees are Thomas Small (Adalaide), Nika Rezaei (Calgary), and Sawyer d’Entremont (British Columbia).
