Ilka Wallis
Ilka Wallis is a hydrogeologist with areas of expertise in quantitative hydrogeology and contaminant hydrology. Ilka focuses on the development of geochemical and reactive transport models which integrate fundamental processes that are normally studied in isolation (hydrogeological, mineralogical, geochemical, and biochemical). Areas of specialization include the assessment and numerical prediction of the fate of organic and inorganic pollutants in aquatic systems (such as nitrate, trace metals, perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances) and the quantifying of feedback mechanisms between chemical reactions and physical flow in aquifer systems. Ilka is an Associate Professor at Flinders University, the course coordinator for the Groundwater Hydrology postgraduate course suite and the co-director of the National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training.
