Prof. Firmin Doko Tchatoka

Prof. Firmin Doko Tchatoka is a leading expert in econometrics and statistics with a research focus on causal effect estimation and policy evaluation. He has developed and applied robust econometric methods to address real-world challenges across macroeconomics, microeconomics, and development. Two core themes guide his research agenda: advancing tools that improve causal inference in applied settings and applying these methods to key policy areas such as education, labor markets, energy volatility, climate change, and institutional reform. By blending theoretical and empirical approaches, he aims to deepen understanding of economic mechanisms and inform the design of more effective, equitable policies. Prof. Doko Tchatoka holds key committee roles including membership in the Econometric Society’s Standing Committees for Australasia and Africa and the Council of the Australia and New Zealand Econometric Study Group. He serves as Associate Editor of Economic Record. He is also Associate Dean of Research Performance at the University of Adelaide.
